Sponsor a Child Program
The cost of putting a child through Secondary School is often an impossible burden for parents. Karatu Education Fund has raised enough money to sponsor 12 children through Secondary School this year 2008. Thank you to all sponsors!
Honorata Thomas Tengere (13) is the youngest of 7 children. Her father is suffering from throat cancer, so is not able to work. Beata, her mother, is a farmer but after her husband’s medical bills she has very little to spare for her family’s needs. Honorata shows great potential. She scored FIRST PLACE in her entire school on the Entrance Exams for Secondary School, with A’s in every subject. Her results are among the highest in the district. We are very proud to be helping her continue her education. Thank you to St Paul’s Episcopal Church, for sponsoring her!
Melkiori Selestini (17) says of all the people in the world, he admires his family doctor the most because he is keeping his parents alive. Selestini, Melkiori’s father, has been suffering from TB for 10 years, and his mother is also very ill. He has three siblings, but the youngest one was tragically killed last year. Despite his many life struggles, Melkiori has a natural confidence about him, and shows real potential in school. He hopes one day to become a government official. Thank you to Steve and Sally Smith for sponsoring him!

Maura is well-loved by all of her teachers, and she hopes one day to become a doctor. Thank you to Frank & Deborah Mellor for sponsoring her!
William Shoha (15) is the youngest of 7 children, and will be the first of all his siblings to attend secondary school. Thank you to St Paul’s Episcopal Church for sponsoring him!

Maria (16) and Joseph (18) Kisimbi are brother and sister. Their father died, and recently after that their mother disappeared. They were taken in by their aunt, Mary, who does not own any farming land and does not make enough money to support all the children in her home. Mary is an older woman, and is suffering from diabetes which, she says, is making it harder and harder for her to work. Maria and Joseph are both excellent students and they are so happy to have been given the chance to go to Secondary School. Thank you to Gary and Tracey Bennewies and their children Derek, Danica, and Evan for sponsoring them!
Deodati Emanuel is 16 years old, and is one of eight children. His father was recently tragically killed, and his mother does not have a regular paying job. Deodati’s teachers say he has an incredible passion for learning, and that he has the potential to become a great leader someday. Thank you to Sandra Madden for sponsoring him!

Thank you to Harvey Stone and his wife Debbie for sponsoring him!

She says that of all the people in the world, she admires her mother most of all because of her big heart and strong will. Thank you to Karen and Kerry Quint for sponsoring her!

His father passed away in 1993, and his mother, Magdalena, does not have a job or an education. The family owns no land. Magdalena has lost many children, so has high hopes for Petro to succeed and make her proud. Thank you to St Paul’s Episcopal Church for sponsoring him!
Agripina Nghashe Tsingay is 15 years old. Her father passed away, and her mother does not have a regular paying job.
